Aluminum Etchants
Koal #807
This product is an excellent material for use as an etching compound for aluminum.  It produces a bright
uniform matte finish every time for long periods.  It serves as an etchant for almost all types of aluminum
alloys.  This product removes soil oxide contaminates on the surface of the aluminum allowing the etching
action to take place.   Because of this chemically clean surface, a smooth bright beautiful etch occurs.

Scale formation and sludging is practically eliminated, therefore, frequent dumping is unnecessary.  Soil
contaminates are dispersed in the bath preventing redeposition on the parts.

Koal #812
This product is highly alkaline, free flowing powdered material for use in the etching of aluminum and its
alloys.

It is used at concentration of 4-6 ozs per gallon of water and at temperatures of 140-160F. It is used in a
soak tank operation where the aluminum parts to be etched are simply immersed for one to five minutes
for desired etch.  A fine grained, very attractive matte finished etch is obtained.

During the etching operation, a black smut appears on the surface of the aluminum, so after rinsing,
immersion in Koal #825 will completely remove the smut.

Koal #812 is so designed to prevent aluminum hydroxide build-up on tank walls, coils and bottom.  It has
incorporated into it a surfactant that cleans parts that have present light oils, and soils, eliminating extra
cleaning operations in some cases. This added feature also reduces scum formation and etching
irregularities.

Scale formation is the principal reason for frequent dumping.  Koal #812 prevents scale formation. Longer
bath life gives a greater margin of operational safety. Dumping in mid-shift is eliminated.
