Iron Phosphate Conversion Coatings
Koal # 4
This product is a free flowing powdered material specifically designed for both heavy duty spray cleaning
and iron phosphate conversion coating of ferrous, aluminum, zinc and copper alloys in a single stage
spray operation.  It is designed for use in all spray type industrial equipment such as chain belt, screw type
drum washers, overhead conveyor and hand held sprayers.

Because of its well balanced heavy duty detergent system, Koal #4 cleans thoroughly the most difficult of
soils in short time cycles.  It likewise forms a tightly adherent and uniform iron phosphate coating on
processed metal surfaces, producing and excellent corrosion resistant coating suitable as a base for paint
with up to six month indoor storage of cleaned parts.

Koal #2014
This product is a concentrated liquid formulation designed to both clean and phosphate conversion coat
aluminum, zinc, brass, and steel alloys in 3,4, or 5 stage power spray washers.  Additionally, it may be
used as a phosphate conversion coater in a soak tank operation, following a pre-cleaner such as Koal
#749 or Koal # 849.

This product contains a highly effective low foaming biodegradeable surfactant system ideally suited for
high pressure spray was systems.  As a result of this design, the product exhibits rapid cleaning of a wide
variety of soils commonly associated with pre-paint metal treatment operations.

Koal # 2014 produces a very dense highly corrosion resistant conversion coating on the metals listed
above.  Exceptional results are additionally obtained on hard to process aluminum extrusions and zinc and
aluminum die castings.  The coating prduced with this process is a very dense amorphous conversion
coating of deep blue to bluish gold coloration.  Outstanding paint adhesion is evident even when tested
with the diestlled boiling water test procedure.  This process offers an excellent paint base for powdered
coatings, as well as the more conventional water based or solvent coatings.

Benefits:
  •        Lack of streaking or dusting, resulting from the products excellent pH stability and long bath life.
  •        Outstanding hard water tolerance thus virtually eliminating spray nozzle plugging and washer
           scaling.
  •        Excellent pollution free substitute for pre-paint chromate conversion coatings on aluminum and
           zinc metal alloys.
  •        Low temperature operation, 120-160F.
  •        combined rapid cleaning and phosphatizing in one simple to use formulation.
