Rust Inhibitor
Koal #600
This product was specifically developed to meet automotive, government and Military specifications for in plant and
production metal corrosion protection. It is a dry film blend of three highly effective corrosion inhibitors combined with a
solvent carrier and cleaning blend, and an additive to promote a high degree of water displacement.
The protective film left on surfaces after solvent evaporation is non-staining and may be used on all metals (steel,
stainless, zinc, aluminum, brass, etc.)
It is used as it comes, full strength or cut 50/50 with mineral spirits depending on the coating thickness desired. The full
strength give a coating thickness of 0.018 mils and giving a coverage of 1500 sq. ft per gallon of solution.
Corrosion test at 100% humidity cabinet and 120F yield only slight corrosion after 26 plus days. This is equivalent to six
months indoor storage protection, however, it is a proven fact that protection of over one year has been obtained.
This product can be used as a simple dip, spray or wipe-on application. Its excellent solvency yields superb cleaning
properties where soils, oils, or chips must be removed.
Typical usage includes:
Machine cleaning (lathes, dies, etc.)
Protection after vibrating and deburring
Production parts cleaning
After black oxide processing
After machining and grinding.
Koal # 601
This product is a thin, clear, light tan liquid containing solvents, diluents, and rust protecting ingredients that leave a wet
imperceptible film that gives up to one year of indoor protection. It is readily removed by solvents, degreasers or alkaline
dip or spray washing.
Benefits:
Koal #601 can be dipped into or brushed on, or sprayed. It is an inexpensive, easy to use material with a flash point in
excess of 140F. It will cover 1500 sq ft of metal per gallon and five indoor protection to parts for up to one year.
Koal # 642.4
This product is an amber colored, ready to use solvent based dry film rust preventive specifically designed for extreme
corrosion problems primarily on steel and its alloys but equally applicable for use on zinc, aluminum, and magnesium.
Koal # 642.4 deposits and extra durable self-healing dry film from .040 to .070 mils thickness on properly immersed or
sprayed metal surfaces. The very effective self-healing characteristics enable processed parts to withstand repeated
scratching, abrasion and scuffing without loss of corrosion protection.
This is a very effective cleaner and degreaser due to its efficient solvent system. Typical uses for this product are:
Machine cleaning and storage
Machine tool and die storage
Engine re-building and storage
Protection of metals from salt atmospheres
Cast iron foundry pieces
After sand or shot blasting
