Koal # 313
This product is a newly developed reverse current electro cleaner designed for the effective removal or rust,
heat treat and welding scale, metallic smuts, finger prints, and phosphate coatings. Light oils are also
effectively removed but heavy stamping lubricants may require a good quality soak cleaner as a precleaner
prior to electro cleaning. This product is cyanide free and does not require its use to enhance its
effectiveness.

Although primarily developed to remove heavy rust and scale, Koal #313 may be used as a periodic
reverse and direct current electro cleaner for very difficult to clean oil quenched heat treated parts such as
threaded fasteners with fine threads. The scaled part is alternately cleaned by reversing the polarity of the
powering rectifier. Increasing the applied voltage will in general increase the current density to the part
being leaned thereby increasing the rate of rust and scale removal. Care must be taken to insure good
electrical contact for the most effective cleaning.

Koal #330

This product is an acidic liquid material consisting of a phosphate acid, solvents and surfactants for use
as a metal preparation material for ferrous and non-ferrous metals prior to plating and painting.

It deposits and improves rust-inhibitive phosphate coatings on iron and steel to improve paint bond and
condition surfaces of zinc, aluminum, copper, brass, magnesium and galvanized iron.  Besides removing
rust, it is non-toxic, non-flammable and easy to use.

Koal #330 is used with excellent results as an acid dip prior to plating, steel, zinc die-cast, copper, brass
and cadmium.  This cleaner helps oxide formation , reduces porosity of nickel deposit, increases throwing
power in blind holes and corners for more uniform plating, increases salt spray resistance and at
temperatures at 160-180F , removes weld marks.

Koal #330  is also used prior to painting ferrous metals, zinc, aluminum and cadmium.  It removes rust
and oxides and creates a rust inhibitive coating.  It increases adhesion of paint for metal and eliminates
peeling and blistering.  It improves impact resistance.  It can be sprayed, dipped or wiped on.  It requires
no pre-cleaning for manual operations but does require preliminary degreasing for production use.

Operating Conditions:
This product should be made up in tanks of stainless steel, wood, stoneware, or rubber lined tanks. A
makeup solution consists of one volume of the #330 and four volumes of water.  Contamination slows the
action so when contamination becomes excessive, solution should be disposed and a fresh solution
made up.

The following is a use guide for Koal #330:

Zinc, die cast, copper, and brass
Manual                3-4 seconds                        1 to 5 dilution with water
Automatic           25 seconds                          1 to 8 dilution with water

Steel
Clean stock        3-4 seconds                        1 to 5 dilution with water
Slightly rusty       6-8 seconds                       1 to 5 dilution with water
Weld marks        1-2 minutes                         1 to 5 dilution with water at 160F

Aluminum
Depending on the aluminum alloy, dilutions of one part #330 with up to three parts water
is recommended. Use cold or at temperatures up to 140F.
